Staff Software Engineer, Identity Core

Location: Remote, United States

Base salary: USD $140,400–$372,300 per year, with potential benefits, annual bonus, stock, and other rewards.

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, ship, and support scalable platform services for enterprise identity and authorization.
• Provide technical leadership through mentorship, pairing, code reviews, and guidance on maintainable integrations.
• Own system health, reliability, security, compliance, and participation in on-call and live-incident response.
• Write architecture proposals, run code experiments, and lead discussions covering technical design and cost considerations.
• Define testing plans, success metrics, and feedback loops with product, engineering, and other cross-functional partners.
• Drive technical roadmaps aligned with product goals and support adoption of new technologies and methodologies.

Requirements

• At least 9 years of software engineering or related technical experience, or equivalent experience; degree-based alternatives are accepted.
• At least 2 years of technical leadership experience as a tech lead, team lead, or equivalent.
• Production software development experience in one or more languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Go, Ruby, Rust, or Python.
• Experience with large-scale system architecture and design in cloud-based environments, distributed systems, and microservices.
• Experience using AI or agentic workflows for implementation and increasing impact.
• Must work remotely from the United States.

Nice to have

• Experience with scripting languages, Ruby, React, Go, JavaScript or TypeScript, MySQL, Cosmos DB, Elasticsearch, Datadog, Sentry, or Azure Data Explorer.
• Experience partnering with product management, design, and engineering teams on cross-functional projects.
• Experience working with a remote, distributed team.
