Lead Software Engineer (Gamedev)

What you will do

• Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of reusable C++ libraries and tooling for studio-wide use.
• Define technical standards, patterns, and best practices for shared runtime systems and platform abstractions.
• Manage and support engineers through 1:1s, technical reviews, and professional development coaching.
• Own team planning and coordination, including scoping initiatives and managing risks and dependencies.
• Collaborate with design, production, and QA to align on priorities and deliver high-quality user experiences across desktop, console, and mobile.
• Investigate and resolve complex technical issues, performance bottlenecks, and cross-platform stability problems.

Requirements

• Extensive professional experience in video game development using C++ with multiple shipped titles across various platforms.
• Expert modern C++ knowledge, including memory allocation patterns, concurrency, and data-oriented design.
• Strong capability in building shared codebases/libraries with clear API design and backward compatibility.
• Experience improving developer workflows, including build systems and CI.
• Demonstrated experience leading engineers through coaching and mentoring.
• Solid working familiarity with Unity and C#.
• Must be based in or able to work hybrid (2-3 days per week) in London, UK.

• Previous line management experience.
• Knowledge of Football Manager or a general interest in football.
