TL;DR
Principal Mechanical Engineer (Robotics): Owning mechanical architecture and system-level integration for robotics platforms delivering personalized bodywork, with an accent on actuators, drivetrains, structures, prototyping, and manufacturing. Focus on designing and validating complex electromechanical assemblies, reducing production costs, and taking hardware from supplier builds through mass production.

Location: Fully on-site in the NYC office, or based in the greater Boston area with regular travel to NYC. Additional travel may be required for supplier and contract manufacturer engagements, including international travel.

Salary: $250,000–$280,000 base annually, plus discretionary annual bonus and equity grant.

Company

hirify.global is a New York-based physical AI and robotics company developing intelligent bodywork systems powered by real-time body mapping, advanced robotics, and proprietary software.

What you will do

  • Own the mechanical master model and drive system-level integration across actuators, drivetrains, structures, and adjacent mechanisms.
  • Lead mechanical design, analysis, prototyping, testing, and validation for deployed and next-generation robotic platforms.
  • Set mechanical design standards covering CAD, FEA, tolerance analysis, design reviews, and technical decision-making.
  • Identify cost reductions, simplify designs, optimize tooling and fixtures, and improve manufacturability and assembly quality.
  • Partner with contract manufacturers, suppliers, Electrical, Firmware, Controls, Operations, and Quality from prototype builds through production.
  • Contribute to the technology roadmap for actuation, transmissions, sensing, structures, cost, and performance.

Requirements

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering; MS preferred, with 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience.
  • Significant experience with actuators, drivetrains, or complex motorized mechanical assemblies for robotics, medical devices, industrial automation, automotive, or similar products.
  • Expertise in SolidWorks, FEA, kinematics, dynamics, GD&T, and tolerance analysis.
  • Deep knowledge of sheet metal, welding, casting, CNC machining, injection molding, assembly, and contract manufacturing through EVT, DVT, PVT, and mass production.
  • Experience with cost-down initiatives, should-cost modeling, hands-on prototyping, instrumentation, characterization, and testing.
  • Ability to provide technical leadership, make pragmatic system-level tradeoffs, and work cross-functionally in a fast-moving startup.

Culture & Benefits

  • Work on robotics and AI products designed to improve human recovery and wellness.
  • Passion-driven, inclusive, curious, ambitious, and collaborative team culture.
  • 100% employer-paid healthcare for employees, with coverage available for eligible dependents.
  • Flexible time off, quarterly Wellness Days, and generous parental leave.
  • 401(k) with employer matching, home office budget, and annual professional development stipend.
  • OneMedical membership, complimentary recovery sessions, and dinner coverage when working late.
