Controls Engineer - Contract (Automotive)

What you will do

• Design electrical control systems with limited supervision and deliver complete control systems for machines.
• Program PLCs and HMIs for machine control systems, including Allen-Bradley and Siemens platforms.
• Provide technical support for manufacturing, in-house builds, machine start-ups, and installed automotive test systems.
• Program and troubleshoot control systems with assembly and engineering teams.
• Define system requirements, operating conditions, and schedules with customers, product managers, project managers, and engineering teams.
• Train Controls Engineers and Electrical Engineers and support installation coordination.

Requirements

• BSEE with an emphasis on controls or systems design, or demonstrable knowledge of electrical and control system concepts.
• 5+ years of relevant experience preferred.
• Experience with variable frequency drives and PLCs; Allen-Bradley and Siemens are required.
• Basic understanding of industrial networking, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
• Ability to use AutoCAD or EPLAN and create electrical print sets and bills of material.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally for 10–20% of the role and communicate effectively with customers and internal teams.

Nice to have

• Experience with Mitsubishi, GE, Omron, or other PLC platforms.
