TL;DR
Head of Field Engineering Operations (SaaS GTM): Architect systems, processes, and insights enabling Field Engineering to scale with an accent on capacity planning, territory alignment, performance measurement, and customer lifecycle management. Location: Hybrid in-office in San Francisco; must be within commuting distance of SF, NY, London, or Berlin offices with anchor days Monday, Tuesday, and Friday.
Salary: $260,000-$300,000 (San Francisco base; adjusted by location).

What you will do
- Own end-to-end operational strategy for Field Engineering, optimizing processes and systems for Solutions Architects, Developer Success Engineers, Customer Success Engineers, Technical Account Managers, and Professional Services.
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing Field Engineering Operations team as a strategic partner to FE leadership.
- Shape team organization, role definitions, RACI, and engagement models based on people, process, and data analysis.
- Drive capacity planning, territory design, and resource allocation aligned with GTM teams across AMER, EMEA, and APAC.
- Manage pre- to post-sales lifecycle framework including forecasting, go-live tracking, and consumption measurement for leadership visibility.
- Define FE metrics, KPIs, dashboards, and health scoring for actionable insights on performance and customer outcomes.
Requirements
- 8+ years in operations, strategy, or technical program leadership for field engineering or customer-facing technical teams at high-growth SaaS companies, with 3+ years building/leading teams.
- Experience scaling operational frameworks for pre/post-sales technical teams (e.g., Solutions Architects, Sales Engineers, Professional Services).
- Proficiency in GTM systems like Salesforce administration, architecture, custom objects, flows, reporting, integrations.
- Track record in territory planning, capacity modeling, compensation design for technical field teams at $100M+ ARR companies.
- Systems thinking to identify leverage points and build prioritized roadmaps; strong analytics with execution bias.
- Ability to partner with VP-level leaders, translating priorities into operational plans cross-functionally.
Nice to have
- Built operations functions from ground up in Field Engineering or Solutions Architecture orgs.
- Worked in developer tools, infrastructure, or cloud platforms with PLG and enterprise sales.
- Experience with post-sales lifecycle, consumption pricing, onboarding, customer health scoring.
- Point of view on AI, automation, internal tooling for technical field orgs, with shipped examples.
- Comfort with technical tooling like SQL, lightweight internal tools, GTM Engineering partnerships.
