What you will do

• Provide coaching, mentoring, and training to underwriters on processes, guidelines, and Encompass system work.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for loan-level questions, escalations, and complex mortgage scenarios.
• Manage the loan pipeline to ensure all areas meet SLAs and handle load balancing and priority reviews.
• Conduct spot reviews and quality audits to identify training needs and report findings to the VP of Underwriting.
• Interview prospective underwriters and manage administrative tasks including timecard and PTO approvals.
• Collaborate with Production Coordinators to communicate underwriting assignments and rush reviews.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent professional experience.
• DE, SAR, and LAPP certifications are required.
• 5+ years of Mortgage Underwriting experience (FHA, VA, and Conventional).
• 5+ years of experience in an underwriting supervisory role.
• Proficiency with Encompass LOS and knowledge of ATR/QM and compliance requirements.
• Must have legal authorization to work in the US.
