Salary: USD $119,800 – $234,700 per year (USD $158,400 – $258,000 in San Francisco Bay area and New York City).

What you will do

• Architect scalable, low-latency systems and data pipelines for ingesting, processing, and serving personalized signals.
• Design, build, and maintain pipelines for telemetry, product usage, and experimentation data.
• Design data models and APIs enabling Copilot to reason about user context, preferences, and history.
• Build real-time and batch personalization engines adapting Copilot’s behavior.
• Collaborate with privacy, security, and responsible AI teams for safe, transparent, user-controlled personalization.
• Optimize for performance, reliability, and cost; ship high-quality, secure code iteratively.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in Python, C#, C++, Golang, Rust, Java (or equivalent).
• Proficiency in backend technologies and architecting distributed solutions.
• Methodical problem-solving for complex AI challenges, privacy, security, performance, and scale.
• Hands-on experience building world-class consumer products in fast-paced environments.
• Strong judgment for risk vs velocity and value decisions.

Nice to have

• 4+ years building scalable services on cloud infrastructure like Azure, AWS, or GCP.
• Experience with large-scale data systems and AI platforms, frameworks, APIs.
• Ability to resolve complex technical issues for optimal performance and scalability.
• Interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration.
