What you will do

• Design and build a reusable on-device inference framework, including the runtime, model integration path, and sampling pipeline.
• Integrate inference into resource-constrained RTOS firmware (Zephyr / FreeRTOS) and own low-level plumbing like drivers and DMA data paths.
• Optimize and quantize ML models for Cortex-M-class hardware to balance accuracy, power draw, and memory footprint.
• Debug complex cross-layer issues on real hardware using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and JTAG.
• Set the technical direction for on-device intelligence and raise the team's embedded-ML fluency.
• Utilize AI-native development tools as a partner for drafting, refactoring, and validating firmware and ML work.

Requirements

• 10+ years of firmware engineering experience taking complex consumer hardware from prototype to mass production.
• Deep proficiency in C/C++ and RTOS internals (Zephyr, FreeRTOS, or equivalent).
• Proven experience deploying ML models on microcontroller-class hardware in shipping products (TFLite Micro, CMSIS-NN, ExecuTorch).
• Solid grounding in sensor data and signal-processing pipelines (IMU).
• Must be based in the USA or Canada.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

Nice to have

• Experience with secure boot, key provisioning, and signed/rollback-safe OTA.
• Hands-on work with cellular, BLE, GPS/GNSS, or audio subsystems in battery-powered wearables.
• New-board bring-up and hardware schematic evaluation.
• Manufacturing test development and production-line debug support.
