TL;DR

Staff Embedded Linux Engineer (Embedded Linux/Yocto): Architecting and implementing system-level software for next-generation autonomous driving platforms with an accent on Linux kernel internals, BSP customization, and hardware interfaces. Location: Hybrid in Mountain View, CA (must be in office at least 3 days per week)

What you will do

  • Lead the design, development, and maintenance of Board Support Packages (BSPs) using the Yocto Project.
  • Configure and optimize the Linux kernel, bootloaders (U-Boot), and root file systems for custom hardware.
  • Develop and debug Linux device drivers for PCIe, DDR, Ethernet, I2C, SPI, and USB.
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers during board bring-up using JTAG, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.
  • Optimize system performance, boot time, memory footprint, and power consumption.
  • Mentor junior engineers and establish robust CI/CD pipelines for the embedded software stack.

Requirements

  • Must be based in or able to work from Mountain View, CA (Hybrid: 3+ days per week)
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in embedded Linux development and board bring-up.
  • Deep expertise in the Yocto Project, including BitBake and custom layer development.
  • Strong proficiency in C/C++ for kernel-level and embedded programming.
  • In-depth knowledge of Linux kernel internals, memory management, and device driver architecture.

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with secure boot, OTA updates, and system security hardening.
  • Experience with open-source contributions.
  • Knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, UDP) or RTOS concepts.
  • Knowledge of Telecommunication or GNSS domains.
