Senior Vehicle Motion Controls Platform Control Design Engineer (Automotive): Designing and implementing advanced control and estimation algorithms for vehicle motion systems with an accent on steering, braking, propulsion, and active aerodynamics. Location: Hybrid (Milford, Michigan). Must report to office at least 3 times a week.

What you will do

• Design and implement vehicle motion control and estimation algorithms across multiple domains.
• Apply model-based design and simulation workflows to develop and validate control strategies.
• Support integration and testing using CarSim, CarMaker, Simulink, and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) setups.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver technical documentation and reports.
• Participate in design reviews and drive technical innovation and process improvements.

Requirements

• MSc or PhD in Controls, Robotics, Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years of relevant experience in controls, estimation, or mechatronics.
• Strong foundation in classical control (PID, state feedback) and advanced strategies (MPC, ML/AI-based control).
• Expertise in state estimation, sensor fusion, and Kalman filter variations (EKF, UKF).
• Valid driver’s license for occasional test support.

Nice to have

• Experience with requirements tools such as DOORS, DNG, or JAMA.
• Familiarity with automotive product release and specification processes.
• Knowledge of powertrain, driveline, and CAN/LIN networks.
• Experience with dSPACE HiL, DiL, or in-vehicle track testing.
