TL;DR
Principal Network Engineer (Cisco/SDN): Delivering and operating Elanco’s network platform and leading large-scale infrastructure projects with an accent on routing, switching, wireless, segmentation, hybrid cloud, and zero-trust strategy. Focus on setting technical direction, solving high-impact network problems, mentoring engineers, and improving reliability across regulated environments.
Location: Hook, UK — hybrid work environment. Occasional work across time zones may be required to support the global business.

What you will do
- Lead large-scale network engineering projects and deliver technical products for the organization.
- Set technical direction, strategic guidance, and long-term engineering vision.
- Develop and support the network platform while improving service reliability and adopting modern technologies and zero-trust principles.
- Research emerging technologies and improve the network infrastructure posture.
- Collaborate with security, development, product management, operations, service owners, and other stakeholders.
- Mentor engineers, communicate complex technical information, and contribute to the organization’s technical roadmap.
Requirements
- At least 10 years of network engineering experience.
- 8+ years of hands-on experience with routing, switching, wireless, and Cisco segmentation.
- Experience in manufacturing or qualified and regulated environments.
- Strong knowledge of SDN technologies, including Cisco SD-WAN and VMware NSX, plus Network Access Control, especially Forescout.
- Experience with hybrid cloud environments using Azure, GCP, and VMware, as well as network security solutions and wireless LAN technologies such as Meraki, Catalyst, and outdoor wireless.
- Strong communication, organizational, and stakeholder collaboration skills.

- Experience designing and building technical solutions.
- Scripting, automation, infrastructure, network monitoring, and Agile experience.
- Experience working with vendors and managed service providers.
- Passion for new technologies, creative problem-solving, and new ideas.
