Principal Network Engineer

TL;DR

Principal Network Engineer (Cisco/SDN): Deliver and support network platform including routing, switching, wireless, and SDN technologies with an accent on zero-trust strategy, hybrid cloud integration, and high reliability. Focus on leading large-scale projects, mentoring engineers, and driving innovation in network infrastructure.

Location: Hook, UK - Hybrid Work Environment. Working standard hours or shift with occasional work across time zones to support the global business may be required.

What you will do

• Lead large-scale projects and set technical direction, strategic guidance, and long-term vision for engineering teams.
• Influence company-wide engineering practices and standards while collaborating with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
• Solve complex, high-impact problems with innovative solutions and drive continuous improvement.
• Proactively research new technologies to enhance network infrastructure and engage in internal/external communities.
• Mentor and coach senior/junior engineers, communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders, and contribute to overall technical strategy.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with security, development, and product management teams.

Requirements

• At least 10 years experience in network engineering
• 8+ years hands-on experience in routing, switching, wireless, segmentation (Cisco)
• Experience working in manufacturing, qualified or regulated environments
• Strong understanding of SDN technologies (Cisco SD-WAN, VMWare NSX)
• Solid knowledge of Network Access Control (especially Forescout)
• Understanding of hybrid cloud environment (Azure, GCP, VMware), network security solutions, and Wireless LAN (Meraki, Catalyst)
• Strong communication, personal, and organizational skills

Nice to have

• Experience in designing and building technical solutions
• Familiar with scripting and automation
• Experience within an infrastructure environment, working with vendors and MSPs
• Strong passion for new technologies, Agile exposure, and Network Monitoring
