UX/UI Design Manager (Mobile Apps)

Location: Hybrid work from the Owings Mills, Maryland or Carlsbad, California office; flexibility to come into the office on short notice is appreciated. Domestic and international travel of approximately 10% is required. Flexible working hours are required due to global infrastructure.

Salary: $108,750–$159,500 per year, with other compensation potentially available depending on the position.

What you will do

• Manage a design team and lead the UI/UX process from concept through developer handoff.
• Design user experiences for iOS and Android mobile apps and connected audio products, including AVRs, Hi-Fi devices, headphones, and Bluetooth speakers.
• Create high-fidelity wireframes, interactive prototypes, and logical user flows that simplify complex product interactions.
• Conduct moderated and unmoderated user testing and refine designs based on findings.
• Ensure interfaces follow Apple Human Interface Guidelines and Google Material Design.
• Collaborate with UX designers, product managers, and engineers; mentor junior designers and lead design reviews.

Requirements

• 6+ years of professional experience designing consumer iOS and Android applications.
• 4+ years of direct people management experience.
• Proven experience delivering mobile UI designs for a global user base.
• Expert proficiency in Figma and proficiency with ProtoPie, Overflow, and Adobe Creative Suite.
• Experience conducting moderated and unmoderated user testing, presenting design rationale, and collaborating with stakeholders.
• Must be willing to work from either the Owings Mills, Maryland or Carlsbad, California office and complete a background investigation and drug screen.

Nice to have

• Experience designing mobile apps connected to networked hardware.
• Experience creating Lottie animations with Bodymovin and After Effects.
• Knowledge of mobile accessibility guidelines and iOS and Android front-end implementation constraints.
• Experience with audio products or connected devices.
