Software Engineer, Platform Engineering

Location: Remote, but candidates must live in San Diego, CA or surrounding areas

Salary: $107,000–$161,000 USD annual base pay

What you will do

• Architect, implement, test, document, and deliver platform engineering solutions.
• Build developer-first tools and automation that improve the internal developer experience.
• Develop cloud-native architecture and services using public cloud technologies.
• Build and maintain service observability, reliability, monitoring, and logging.
• Drive inner-source and open-source initiatives across the developer community.
• Participate in a 24/7 follow-the-sun on-call rotation, including weekends and holidays, for production incidents.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
• At least 2 years of professional software development experience.
• Experience with AWS and cloud computing concepts.
• Strong computer science fundamentals and experience with at least one programming language such as Java, JavaScript, Python, Go, TypeScript, or React.
• Understanding of software testing, source control, pull requests, and automated quality gates.
• Strong communication, learning, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of Site Reliability Engineering concepts and practices.
• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, serverless technologies, and production Kubernetes clusters in public cloud.
• Experience with Datadog, Splunk, ELK, or similar monitoring and logging tools.
• Experience with on-call rotations and incident management.
