Staff Platform Engineer (AI)

Salary: $180,000–$220,000 annually plus equity

hirify.global builds and operates autonomous underwater vehicles that collect georeferenced ocean-floor data and delivers bathymetric and imagery products through its own platform.

What you will do

• Architect and operate the Amazon Bedrock integration, including agents, action groups, backend APIs, model access, throughput, and multi-environment deployment.
• Build the end-to-end retrieval data plane, covering ingestion, chunking, embeddings, index design, and storage in Amazon OpenSearch Serverless.
• Extend data pipelines for internal knowledge, ocean data, and customer platforms, including geospatial and large-binary datasets.
• Secure AI infrastructure with Bedrock Guardrails, VPC and PrivateLink boundaries, least-privilege IAM, data isolation, and audit trails.
• Define agent governance, approval boundaries, monitoring, LLMOps observability, and automated evaluation release gates.
• Provide SDKs, APIs, abstraction layers, self-service environments, infrastructure as code, and operational support for engineering teams.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software and infrastructure engineering experience, including production backend work in Python or TypeScript; Go is also acceptable.
• Production experience with Amazon Bedrock agents, knowledge bases, guardrails, model access, throughput, and quotas.
• Experience deploying containerized services on ECS, EKS, or Lambda and owning CI/CD systems.
• Practical RAG and vector search experience, including embeddings, chunking, semantic search, and production-scale vector databases.
• Strong AWS expertise across IAM, VPC, PrivateLink, Lambda, S3, KMS, CloudWatch, and infrastructure as code with Terraform, CDK, or CloudFormation.
• Staff-level technical leadership, developer-facing platform or API design, multi-tenant service operation, agent security, and production LLM experience.

Nice to have

• LLM evaluation systems, AI red-teaming, or participation in the AI security community.
• GraphRAG, knowledge graphs, or retrieval over geospatial, scientific, and large-binary datasets.
• Experience with intermittent links, store-and-forward systems, hub-and-spoke topologies, edge systems, and reconciliation.
• SOC 2, government or defense data, autonomous systems, data platforms, or field operations experience.
