Senior Platform Engineer (Rust)

Location: Remote, Canada or United States

Base salary: $139,200–$235,200 USD per year for United States residents

What you will do

• Design, build, and operate hirify.global Orbit backend services primarily in Rust within a distributed, cloud-native environment.
• Improve deployment, monitoring, and operations across hirify.global.com, Dedicated, and Self-Managed deployments using Kubernetes, Helm, Terraform, and AWS or GCP.
• Automate deployments, upgrades, recovery, capacity management, and service maintenance.
• Strengthen observability through metrics, logs, traces, dashboards, alerts, and service-level indicators while improving incident response and on-call readiness.
• Build graph query, SDLC and code indexing, cloud storage, API, and MCP capabilities using systems such as S3, ClickHouse, NATS, and Siphon.
• Own technical changes from design through rollout, documenting trade-offs and collaborating with product, data, infrastructure, security, AI, delivery, and SRE teams.

Requirements

• Strong Rust skills or clear evidence of being able to contribute to a Rust-first, performance-sensitive codebase.
• Experience designing and operating production backend services and distributed systems, including concurrency, failure handling, consistency, messaging, scalability, and multi-tenant isolation.
• Hands-on experience with AWS or GCP, including networking, identity and access management, compute, storage, and object storage such as S3.
• Experience deploying and troubleshooting applications with Kubernetes and Helm, plus Terraform or similar infrastructure-as-code tools.
• Experience improving reliability, observability, maintainability, and on-call readiness across application, data, orchestration, and infrastructure layers.
• Strong system design, technical communication, autonomous problem-solving, code review, mentoring, incident communication, and asynchronous collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with Ruby, Go, TypeScript, or Vue in adjacent parts of the stack.
• Experience with graph query engines, ClickHouse-backed systems, MCP tools, or cloud storage integrations.
