What you will do

• Build backend systems powering enterprise controls, including permissions, policy enforcement, auditability, and compliance workflows.
• Design residency- and region-aware architectures to meet country- and customer-specific requirements.
• Partner with product, security, legal/compliance, and adjacent engineering teams to implement scalable technical systems.
• Improve reliability, observability, and operational maturity of services underpinning ChatGPT Enterprise.

Requirements

• 9+ years of professional engineering experience in relevant roles at tech and product-driven companies.
• Proficiency in one or more backend languages (e.g., Python, Go, Rust, Typescript) and distributed systems concepts.
• Experience designing and operating distributed systems emphasizing reliability, performance, and security.
• Experience with access controls, identity, compliance, privacy, data governance, or enterprise platform concerns.
• Some experience with relational databases like Postgres/MySQL.
• Proven ability to thrive in fast-growing, product-driven companies.

Nice to have

• Former founder or early engineer at a startup who has built a product from scratch.
• Interest in AI/ML (direct experience not required).
