What you will do

• Design and maintain the pipeline for ingesting and processing usage messages from AI services with sub-second reliability.
• Build aggregation layers to summarize raw usage events by customer and product for real-time dashboards and billing runs.
• Integrate with usage-based billing platforms (M3ter, Metronome) and CRM systems like Salesforce.
• Develop customer-facing billing experiences, including usage views, spend dashboards, and self-service plan upgrade flows.
• Own billing-adjacent authorization surfaces, including API key management and usage-based access controls.
• Implement automated reconciliation systems to ensure financial accuracy between usage events and payment records.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience building billing, payments, or financial data systems in a SaaS or usage-based environment.
• Strong backend engineering skills in Python, TypeScript/Node.js, or Go.
• Deep experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and high-volume data pipeline design.
• Hands-on experience integrating billing platforms (e.g., Stripe, Chargebee) and CRM systems (Salesforce).
• Strong understanding of usage-based pricing models, proration, overages, and multi-currency.
• Must be based in the USA.

Nice to have

• Experience with M3ter or Metronome specifically, or custom metering systems.
• Familiarity with product-led growth (PLG) patterns and conversion instrumentation.
• Experience with event-driven architectures such as Kafka, SQS, or Pub/Sub.
• Background in revenue recognition (ASC 606) or SOX-relevant billing controls.
• Experience with analytics/BI tooling like Looker, Metabase, or dbt.
