What you will do

• Provide legal advice and opinions on the patentability of inventions and validity of patents.
• Draft and submit patent applications and manage the application process worldwide.
• Supervise and review outside counsel's work on domestic and international patent prosecution.
• Research potential infringement by competitors and provide recommendations to senior management.
• Advise on IP-related licenses, non-disclosure agreements, and other patent-related contracts.
• Maintain current knowledge of patent law changes and participate in continuing education.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field strongly desired.
• Juris Doctorate degree with an active license to practice before a state bar.
• Admittance to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in U.S. and foreign patent preparation and prosecution.
• Must be based in or able to work in Rockville, Maryland.
