Senior Accountant (Revenue Focus)

TL;DR

Senior Accountant (Revenue Focus) (SaaS/IoT): Ensuring accuracy and compliance of revenue-related records, including deferred revenue, accounts receivable adjustments, and contractual incentives with an accent on GAAP, ASC 606, and SOX standards. Focus on performing monthly reconciliations, flux analysis, SEC reporting schedules, audit support, and process improvements in the order-to-cash cycle.

Location: Tysons, Virginia. Work from the office 4 days a week. Sponsorship of new applicants for employment authorization or immigration-related support is not available.

What you will do

• Prepare and record journal entries for deferred revenue, accounts receivable adjustments, and contractual incentives.
• Perform monthly and quarterly account reconciliations and flux analysis for revenue-related accounts.
• Assist in preparing SEC reporting schedules and revenue disclosures for filings, and support audits with documentation.
• Partner with Finance Systems to enhance ERP and revenue automation tools, and identify process improvements.
• Collaborate with Sales Ops, Legal, FP&A, and Customer Success to resolve revenue issues and provide deal structure guidance.
• Lead ad hoc projects and assist GL team with other accounting areas as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 3+ years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in revenue accounting or public accounting for technology clients.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, complex formulas, data modeling).
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have

• Active CPA license.
• Experience in a SOX-compliant, publicly traded company.
• Experience with ASC 606 revenue recognition standards.
• Prior work in SaaS or technology industries.
• Experience with ERP and revenue automation tools (Microsoft Dynamics, NetSuite, Workday).
• Familiarity with SEC reporting and revenue note preparation.
