What you will do

• Design and implement scalable, high-performance database solutions tailored for ecommerce needs.
• Proactively monitor and optimize database queries, stored procedures, and schema designs.
• Implement and maintain robust backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
• Manage database security, user access, roles, and data encryption.
• Develop tools to automate routine administrative tasks using Python, bash, and powershell.
• Collaborate with software engineers, data scientists, and product managers to deliver data-driven solutions.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience as a Senior Database Engineer, SRE, or DBA, preferably in high-transaction environments.
• Proven experience with database platform migrations (e.g., Relational to DocumentDB, Oracle to Postgres).
• Strong expertise in relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server) and NoSQL systems (MongoDB, Redis).
• Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of data governance and privacy regulations such as GDPR and CCPA.
• Must be based in or able to work in a hybrid setup in Toronto, Canada.
