What you will do

• Act as Designated Veterinarian and Animal Welfare Officer for multiple species including rodents, rabbits, pigs, and zebrafish.
• Supervise all animal facility activities in strict compliance with EU Directive 2010/63/EU and national regulations.
• Manage animal breeding colonies and coordinate animal care and experimental staff.
• Prepare comprehensive reports for department heads and competent regulatory authorities.
• Develop and update work protocols for facilities, equipment, and techniques.
• Manage procurement of animals and materials, and supervise equipment maintenance and inspection.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Medicine and official registration.
• Master's degree in Laboratory Animal Science and Welfare.
• 6–8+ years of experience as a veterinarian in research animal centers.
• Fluent in Spanish and English, both spoken and written.
• Certification to perform functions according to EU Directive 63/2010 and Real Decreto 53/2013.
• Experience in colony management, anesthesia, and surgery across different species within pharmaceutical or biotech settings.

Nice to have

• PhD or Diploma from the European College of Laboratory Animal Medicine (ECLAM).
• Authorship of scientific publications on animal models and laboratory animal science.
