What you will do

• Lead collaborative design, implementation, and optimisation of power generation systems (thermal, hydro, wind, solar) for hyperscale data centres.
• Assess, select, and integrate energy storage solutions (batteries, flywheels, pumped hydro) for resilient operations.
• Conduct techno-economic studies evaluating technologies on cost, speed, complexity, and public acceptance.
• Communicate findings and present actionable business cases to stakeholders.
• Engage with engineering, R&D, project management, and partners to drive innovative energy solutions.
• Monitor trends, contribute to technology roadmaps, and support funding models like Energy as a Service.
• Coach junior technologists and ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental standards, and regulations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Energy Systems, or related; Chartered Engineer status an asset.
• 8+ years in power generation/energy storage development, 3+ years senior/leadership, ideally in data centre energy.
• Expertise in islanded/private wire/paralleled generation, integrating renewables/conventional with storage.
• Strong knowledge of grid integration, power electronics, system controls for hyperscale AI/cloud data centres.
• Track record in techno-economic studies, project delivery from feasibility to optimisation.
• Experience with funding/operating models like Energy as a Service.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, stakeholder skills; familiarity with UK/EU regulatory frameworks and grid codes.
