Billing Associate (RCM)

Billing Associate (RCM): Supporting front-end revenue cycle workflows with a focus on financial clearance, insurance eligibility, and authorization processes. Location: Remote in the United States or Hybrid in San Francisco. Candidates must permanently reside in the US full-time.

Salary: $25.00-$34.00/hour + equity + benefits.

What you will do

• Verify insurance eligibility and benefits, documenting copays, deductibles, and visit limits prior to services.
• Obtain and manage prior authorizations and referrals to meet payer requirements for reimbursement.
• Maintain accurate payer and member insurance information to prevent claim rejections.
• Support members navigating benefits, EAP programs, and coverage, responding to billing inquiries with empathy.
• Own worklists, resolve claim denials, and prioritize tasks meeting productivity and SLA expectations.
• Identify trends in errors or delays, contribute to process improvements, automation, and compliance.

Requirements

• 2–3+ years in healthcare revenue cycle, eligibility verification, authorizations, or related roles.
• Working knowledge of insurance eligibility, benefits, authorizations, and payer requirements.
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy in high-volume workflows, and multi-priority management.
• Problem-solving skills for ambiguous information and payer systems.
• Excellent communication to explain complex insurance concepts clearly.

Nice to have

• Experience with EAPs, employer-sponsored benefits, behavioral health coverage.
• Familiarity with payer portals, eligibility tools, authorization systems.
• Member-facing support or customer service in healthcare.
• Process improvement, automation, or AI-enabled workflows.
