What you will do

• Lead the nRF Cloud platform team, ensuring scalability and reliability for systems ingesting data from millions of IoT devices daily.
• Manage team productivity by identifying blockers, balancing workloads, and optimizing workflows.
• Maintain technical contributions through architecture design, code reviews, and debugging production issues.
• Define and evolve the cloud platform roadmap based on experimentation and iterative improvement.
• Champion an observability culture by implementing meaningful metrics, logs, and sustainable on-call rotations.
• Partner cross-functionally with Product, SDK, and Security teams to align engineering work with business goals.

Requirements

• Location: Must be based in Boston, United States
• 6+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 1 year of engineering management.
• Deep familiarity with AWS (EKS, RDS, S3, EC2, ECS).
• Solid experience with PostgreSQL, including schema design and query optimization.
• Proficiency in backend programming using Python, Kotlin, and/or TypeScript.
• Strong experience with Kubernetes for operating and scaling production workloads.

Nice to have

• Background in IoT, embedded systems tooling, or developer tools.
• Experience with MQTT, CoAP, or device telemetry pipelines.
• Familiarity with ClickHouse or other columnar databases for high-volume time-series data.
• Experience managing SOC 2 or other compliance processes.
