What you will do

• Drive technical vision and architectural strategy, including writing and reviewing RFCs for major system changes.
• Design resilient, consistent, and observable high-scale distributed systems using Golang.
• Act as a force multiplier by building shared libraries, internal tools, and frameworks to improve developer velocity.
• Mentor Senior Engineers to evolve their thinking from service-level ownership to system-level architecture.
• Implement AI coding agents and tools to optimize engineering workflows and software quality.
• Solve complex technical problems involving race conditions and Go runtime or database lock optimizations.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in Backend Engineering with a focus on Golang and Distributed Systems.
• Proven track record of technical leadership and the ability to influence others through clear design documentation.
• Deep understanding of CAP theorem, high throughput, and high availability.
• Experience with Event-Driven Architectures using Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• Fluent German and C1+ English proficiency.
• Must be located preferably near Vienna or within a 2h time zone difference.

Nice to have

• Experience with cloud platforms such as GCP, AWS, or Azure.
• Practical experience using LLMs for architectural stress tests or automation scripts.
