Network Operations Engineer II (Fintech)

TL;DR

Network Operations Engineer II (Fintech): Supporting and monitoring CME’s global network infrastructure with an accent on incident response, troubleshooting, and change implementation. Focus on maintaining platform stability across multi-vendor environments, including firewalls, load balancers, and cloud technologies.

Location: Hybrid (2 days/week required in the office), Belfast, UK

What you will do

• Act as first responder to organize and control incident response.
• Monitor platforms to ensure internal SLAs, operational KPIs, and quality standards are met.
• Handle complex technical support issues in a multi-vendor, multi-appliance infrastructure.
• Perform daily technical operations including firewall troubleshooting, scripting changes, and firmware updates.
• Collaborate with IT teams, vendors, and service providers to resolve incidents and requests.
• Develop technical SOPs and maintain accurate troubleshooting records via ticketing systems.

Requirements

• Extensive experience in a fast-paced enterprise NOC (minimum 2nd or 3rd line experience).
• In-depth support experience with LAN/WAN technologies: OSPF, BGP, TCP/IP, and Layer 2 architectures.
• Experience with firewalls (ACLs, security posture) and load balancing (F5 LB, iRules).
• Proficiency with VPN (IPSec and SSL) and understanding of Wireless technologies.
• Knowledge of ISO and ITIL standards.
• Experience supporting or working with Cloud Technologies.

Nice to have

• Enterprise certifications in R&S (Cisco, Juniper), Firewalls (Palo Alto, Fortinet), or Wireless (Aruba, Meraki).
• Cloud Certification in GCP (preferable), AWS, or Azure.
• Experience with toolset management such as Solarwinds.
• Wireshark Certification or experience with hardware-based packet capture systems.
• Knowledge of Multicast: PIM-SM, MSDP, AnyCastRP.
