SCADA Engineer (Renewables & Grid)

TL;DR

SCADA Engineer (Renewables & Grid): Designing and implementing Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition systems for substations and renewable energy integration with an accent on hardware design, networking, and HMI development. Focus on developing control system architectures, configuring RTUs and PMUs, and ensuring NERC-CIP cyber security compliance.

Location: Must be based in Overland Park, Atlanta, Denver, or Houston (US). Relocation is not provided.

Salary: $126,423 - $211,134 (Colorado range)

What you will do

• Design SCADA hardware, networking equipment, fiber networks, and HMI screens for power projects.
• Develop RTU, PMU, and PDC device configurations and points lists.
• Create engineering design documents, control narratives, and procurement specifications.
• Provide oversight and lead lower-level engineering work and assignments.
• Perform quality assurance, factory acceptance testing, and cyber security auditing.
• Provide technical support to field construction teams for troubleshooting and issue resolution.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Computer Science.
• Minimum 5 years of related work experience.
• Experience with DNP3 protocol and IPv4/serial communication settings.
• Ability to read one-line diagrams and AC/DC schematics.
• Must be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Experience with IEC 61850, Modbus, or OPC UA protocols.
• Proficiency with HMI software such as Ignition, AVEVA, or Cimplicity.
• Knowledge of NERC-CIP cyber security standards and IEEE 1547.
• Experience with SEL RTAC and IED architecture.
• Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE).
