TL;DR

Sr. GNC Modeling and Simulation Engineer (Robotics): Developing physics-based models for aircraft dynamics to enable rapid iteration and certification-grade validation of GNC software with an accent on aerodynamics and system identification. Focus on conducting closed-loop testing of flight control systems and validating simulation models against real-world flight test data.

Location: Remote or hybrid (Mountain View, CA or Seattle, WA). Must be a U.S. person or authorized to comply with U.S. export control laws.

Salary: $200,000 – $300,000

What you will do

  • Develop physics-based models representative of aircraft dynamics, including aerodynamics, ground reactions, and actuator models.
  • Identify, request, and analyze flight tests necessary to inform and refine modeling.
  • Conduct closed-loop testing of flight control systems with simulated aircraft dynamics.
  • Develop tools for visualizing and analyzing simulation and flight data.
  • Perform validation of simulation models against actual flight test data.

Requirements

  • MS in aerospace engineering, robotics, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience with aerodynamics, flight dynamics simulation, and system identification.
  • Proficiency in Python, C++, MATLAB/Simulink, and Linux-based development environments.
  • Experience developing validated physics-based models and their integration and testing.
  • Must be a U.S. person or hold necessary authorization to perform in compliance with U.S. export control laws.

Nice to have

  • PhD in aerospace engineering, robotics, or a related field.
  • Experience with high-fidelity physics-based aircraft or other complex simulation systems.
  • Current pilot, instrument or commercial ratings.
