Medical Assistant (Pulmonology)

TL;DR

Medical Assistant (Pulmonology/Sleep Medicine): Support physicians and APPs in sleep medicine and pulmonology practices with an accent on patient rooming, vital signs collection, medication reconciliation, and administrative coordination. Focus on handling patient communications, processing medication refills and prior authorizations, and coordinating DME forms and supplies.

Location: On-site in South Portland, Maine

Salary: $23-27 hourly

What you will do

• Support physicians and APPs practicing sleep medicine or pulmonology.
• Handle incoming phone and patient portal communications, routing to appropriate staff.
• Communicate physician replies, results, and recommendations to patients.
• Room patients, obtain vital signs, and reconcile medication lists.
• Process medication refills, DME supplies, and prior authorizations for medications and tests.
• Coordinate completion of forms for DME, Bureau of Motor Vehicles, and similar.

Requirements

• High school diploma or Associate’s degree
• Medical Assistant certification preferred with clinical experience
• Current BLS certificate
• Ability to understand patient medical records and physicians’ orders
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, coworkers, and physicians/APPs
• Proficient computer skills, EMR usage, typing, and mousing

Nice to have

• Prior experience in Sleep Medicine/Pulmonology practice
