Financial Controller (SaaS)

TL;DR

Financial Controller (SaaS): Leading the organization’s financial strategy, planning, and operations with an accent on accounting oversight and regulatory compliance. Focus on optimizing financial systems through AI integration, managing multi-entity cash flows, and providing data-driven insights to senior leadership.

Location: Remote (Canada), preferred candidates from the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). Working hours must align with Eastern Time Zone or Atlantic Time Zone.

Salary: 50-60 CAD per hour (approx. 15-20 hours per week)

What you will do

• Lead the organization’s financial strategy, planning, and overall accounting operations including general ledger and payroll.
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Manage cash flow, working capital, and treasury functions across entities.
• Develop internal controls and coordinate external audits and tax filings.
• Establish financial KPIs and management reporting dashboards to support data-driven decision-making.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with the CEO, HR, and operations teams to drive growth.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or Finance; CPA or equivalent certification is required.
• 10-15 years of progressive experience in finance.
• Strong expertise in GAAP, IFRS, and other relevant accounting standards.
• Proficiency in financial modeling, data analysis, and advanced ERP/accounting software.
• Must be based in Canada and able to work in ET/AT time zones.

Nice to have

• Experience with Xero.
• Background in the SaaS industry.
• Experience working in high-growth and multi-entity environments.
• Advanced Excel skills.
