Location: Must be based in the greater Austin Area and be onsite in the datacenter 2-3 days a week

What you will do

• Lead the transition from manual environments to Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform and Ansible.
• Own the systems foundation, including Active Directory cleanup, DNS, and DHCP standards.
• Manage VMware environment (~50 ESXi hosts) and evaluate future hypervisor alternatives.
• Maintain physical DC operations, ensuring cabling discipline, rack layout, and power management.
• Formally manage a team of three engineers, handling 1:1s, prioritization, and technical direction.
• Collaborate with SRE, corporate IT, and production engineering teams to deliver reliable infrastructure.

Requirements

• 8+ years of infrastructure or systems engineering experience with deep hands-on depth in VMware and Linux.
• Proven track record of implementing standards and stability in complex, unstructured environments.
• Experience managing or leading a small technical team.
• Solid working knowledge of core systems services (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP).
• Must reside within a commutable distance of North Central Austin.
• Not eligible for Visa sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Enterprise networking experience in the datacenter or cloud.
• Experience managing non-standard hardware such as Mac minis or ARM devices.
