TL;DR

System Integration Engineer (Power Electronics): Developing and integrating cutting-edge power electronics for the modern grid with an accent on inverters, rectifiers, and system-level verification. Focus on turning subsystems into robust products through hands-on bring-up, rigorous testing, and root cause analysis of failures.

Location: On-site in Scotts Valley

Salary: $130,000–$189,000 per year

Company

A startup building scalable, innovative hardware solutions to de-bottleneck electricity generation and consumption for the 21st-century grid.

What you will do

  • Conduct system-level design and analysis for power electronics-based converters connected to the Medium Voltage grid.
  • Define system requirements, interfaces, and verification plans to ensure product robustness.
  • Execute the integration strategy through hands-on bring-up and rigorous testing from subsystem to field.
  • Design and build test setups and tooling, including grid simulators, load banks, and DAQ instrumentation.
  • Lead troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for failures found in the lab or field.
  • Develop regression testing frameworks and maintain system architecture and configuration control.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in systems integration and testing of complex electrical systems, preferably in power electronics.
  • Demonstrated ownership across a meaningful chunk of a product lifecycle (prototype to validation).
  • Strong fundamentals in power, controls, embedded behavior, and system-level interfaces.
  • Hands-on debugging experience with instrumentation, logs, telemetry, and CAN communications.
  • Must be able to work on-site in Scotts Valley.

Nice to have

  • Experience in product development of grid-tied inverters, PCS, or medium-voltage systems.
  • Familiarity with power system modeling and common protection techniques.
  • Knowledge of reliability engineering principles (Weibull analysis, ALT/HALT).
  • Experience building automated test coverage or regression frameworks using Python.

Culture & Benefits

  • Collaborative, enriching environment focusing on personal and technical growth.
  • Dynamic culture driven by first-principles engineering and a strong bias toward hands-on execution.
  • Competitive compensation package including salary and equity.
  • End-to-end lifecycle ownership, from early trade studies to field feedback.
