What you will do
- Research, interpret, and apply compliance standards from UL, IEC, IEEE, NEC, ISO to guide product listing and market entry.
- Partner with engineering, product, and manufacturing teams to embed compliance into product architecture and design.
- Develop and execute compliance test plans, build test infrastructure, and debug failures with design teams.
- Manage partnerships with NRTLs for timely certification and maintain test data programs.
- Monitor evolving standards, engage with AHJs and utilities, and represent the company in codes and standards development.
- Mentor junior engineers, establish best practices, and plan compliance infrastructure and expenses.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or equivalent.
- More than 7 years’ experience in regulatory and compliance certification for solar, wind, battery or power electronics products.
- Deep understanding of UL/IEC/EN, IEEE, and ISO standards for grid-connected power electronics.
- Experience with manufacturing processes and material selection for high-power assemblies.
- Experience developing DFMEA, PFMEA, and HARA for hardware design and manufacturing.
- Participation in product-relevant standards committees, cybersecurity for utility equipment, and functional safety in software/firmware.
- Hands-on experience with test equipment like oscilloscopes, power analyzers, and data loggers.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with grid-tied hardware like medium-voltage converters or switchgear.
- Experience with medium-voltage systems including insulation and partial discharge.
- Test automation using Python, LabVIEW, or embedded scripting.
- Knowledge of specific standards: UL1741, IEC 62109, IEEE 1547, etc.
