What you will do
- Own critical mechanical systems and assemblies from initial concept through to production and field deployment.
- Develop practical design solutions for highly integrated electromechanical hardware using first-principles analysis and FEA.
- Translate system requirements into robust mechanical architectures, detailed designs, and comprehensive validation plans.
- Iterate quickly through build-test-iterate cycles by building prototypes and running experiments based on test data.
- Collaborate with suppliers to enhance manufacturability, quality, cost, and overall scalability of hardware.
- Partner cross-functionally with Electrical, Software, and Production teams to ensure safety and reliability.
Requirements
- 4+ years of industry experience designing electromechanical and structural assemblies.
- Proven ownership of complex systems through multiple product development cycles.
- Fluency in CAD for system-level ownership (managing 20–30 parts simultaneously).
- Strong foundation in GD&T, FEA, and design for assembly (DFA).
- Hands-on prototyping experience and ability to use hand calculations to validate designs.
- Location: Must be based in South San Francisco, California, USA
Nice to have
- Aerospace or automotive validation experience.
- Experience with carbon fiber composite structures.
- Expertise in scaling hardware via injection molding, stamping, or extrusion.
- Knowledge of high-efficiency electric powertrain components.
- Proficiency with NX as a primary CAD tool.
