TL;DR

Director, Business Development (Peptide Discovery Technologies): Drive end-to-end out-licensing of peptide discovery platform with an accent on sourcing strategic partnerships, negotiation, and deal execution. Focus on building relationships with biotech and pharma leaders, managing licensing transactions from outreach to close, and expanding presence in key industry clusters.

Location: Remote in the United States, up to 30% travel, occasional meetings at headquarters in Emeryville, CA. Working hours generally 8am-5pm PT.

Salary: $185,000 - $230,000 per year

What you will do

  • Develop deep knowledge of hirify.global platform and corporate goals through collaboration with internal stakeholders.
  • Source collaboration opportunities via research, conferences, and networking, prioritizing independently.
  • Build and manage relationships with potential partners as primary point of contact throughout partnering process.
  • Progress licensing activities cross-functionally, structuring requests efficiently.
  • Analyze, prioritize, and execute partnering strategies and negotiations with ownership.
  • Coordinate legal documents like CDAs, term sheets, and licenses with stakeholders.
  • Maintain partnering database and provide status updates; stay current on peptide tech landscape.

Requirements

  • Must be based in the United States.
  • PhD/MSc in Biology, Chemistry, Physics or related; or MBA + BSc in related field.
  • 8+ years life sciences industry experience; 5-7 years client-facing BD in peptide/antibody technologies.
  • 2+ years selling peptide discovery technologies required.
  • Strong understanding of peptide drug discovery/development/partnering; experience with synthesis, therapeutics, or screening.
  • Proven relationship-building and deal negotiation with biotech/pharma; excellent communication.
  • Independent worker managing multiple opportunities; proficient in MS Office and CRM.
