Principal Solutions Architect

Principal Solutions Architect: Lead the Solutions Architects team engaging with critical partnerships and bridging customers, carriers, product, and engineering for world-class experiences. With an accent on scaling the team, defining standards and processes, and championing strategic relationships. Focus on developing solution architectures, API specifications, bridge solutions, and enhancing customer developer experience.

Location: Engineering Remote (United States), anywhere in the US except Delaware, Nevada, Ohio, Oregon, Hawaii, New Mexico, and West Virginia; many roles available internationally outside US and Ireland via Remote.com.

Salary: $212k–$287k annual (US pay ranges, midpoint $250k).

What you will do

• Lead and scale the Solutions Architect team, setting expectations, priorities, and accountability aligned to business objectives.
• Develop and mentor Solutions Architects through coaching, feedback, and guidance to build technical depth and execution discipline.
• Define standards for Solutions Architect work, deliverables, operating model, and processes including intake, prioritization, and workflows.
• Drive consistency, quality, and performance across engagements with review cadences, playbooks, metrics, and retrospectives.
• Champion strategic partner relationships, understand needs, and drive solutions expanding product portfolio.
• Set technical direction for solution delivery, including architectures, API specs, SDKs, and documentation using approved infrastructure.

Requirements

• 10+ years software development experience
• 5+ years leading teams
• History of engaging with customers, clients, and partners
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Track record designing scalable integration architectures for enterprise clients
• Solid understanding of OOP/functional programming, design/architectural patterns
• Coding in server-side languages (Go, Python, Java, Ruby) and SQL
• Experience with server-side MVC frameworks (Django, .NET, Spring, Rails, Phoenix)
• BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent

Nice to have

• Prior experience with XMS integrations (OMS, WMS, TMS)
• Experience with shipping/postal carriers
• GoLang and Python in production
• Microservices architectures
• API integrations (REST, SOAP, gRPC)
• Performance tuning, concurrency, security, data analytics
• Django experience
• DevOps tooling (Docker, Terraform, CircleCI, etc.)
• AWS/Cloud services (EC2, S3, Lambda, etc.)
