What you will do

• Create detailed CAD drawings, roof plans, electrical single-line diagrams, and 3D site models for residential solar PV installations
• Design systems using AutoCAD, Aurora Solar, Helioscope, or similar software
• Review site surveys, satellite imagery, and shading analysis to optimize designs
• Ensure compliance with NEC, AHJ requirements, utility standards, and HOA guidelines
• Perform sizing calculations for strings, inverters, and loads
• Collaborate with project managers, sales, and installation teams on issues and changes
• Maintain project documentation and support process improvements

Requirements

• 2+ years experience in residential solar system design or related engineering/drafting
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and at least one solar design platform (Aurora Solar, Helioscope, PVWatts, or equivalent)
• Working knowledge of NEC (Articles 690 and 705)
• Understanding of roofing structures, load-bearing, and racking/mounting systems
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects
• Ability to interpret site surveys, utility bills, and aerial imagery
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Nice to have

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Drafting/Design, or related
• Familiarity with structural engineering for roof-mounted systems
• Experience designing in Nevada, California, Arizona, or other high-solar markets
