Senior/Staff Research Scientist (AI/ML): Designing and developing next-generation frontier benchmarks and datasets to improve model training and evaluation with an accent on LLM evaluation and data-centric AI. Focus on bridging the gap between academic research and commercial GTM strategy to drive product roadmaps and customer ROI.

Location: Must be based in the United States (Hybrid in Redwood City or San Francisco, or Remote)

Salary: $220,000 - $320,000 USD

What you will do

• Design state-of-the-art datasets for frontier model training and evaluation based on academic partnerships.
• Translate benchmark insights into compelling narratives for technical reports, customer presentations, and GTM materials.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with data operations, product, engineering, and strategy to inform the company roadmap.
• Maintain expertise in LLM evaluation research and integrate best practices into internal workflows.
• Represent the company externally through publications, blog posts, and conference talks.

Requirements

• Must be based in the United States.
• Strong research background in AI/ML evaluation, NLP, or related fields.
• Proven track record of rigorous experimental design focused on the impact of training and evaluation data on model behavior.
• Exceptional communication skills to present complex findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ph.D. in machine learning, NLP, or a related field (or equivalent industry/research lab experience).
• Comfort operating in ambiguous, fast-paced startup environments.
