TL;DR

Head of Design (AI): Leading a team of UI/UX designers to build an AI software platform for regulated healthcare and life sciences industries with an accent on design strategy, intuitive user flows, and scalable design systems. Focus on bridging the gap between innovation and compliance by creating high-fidelity visuals and prototypes for safety-critical products.

Location: Hybrid: Must be based in or be able to relocate to Vienna, Austria or Boston, MA, USA (at least four days per week on-site).

Compensation: Vienna based €115K+; Boston based $170K–$195K, plus performance bonus and equity.

What you will do

• Manage and grow a team of designers and oversee the end-to-end design strategy for the platform.
• Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and executive leadership to shape features from concept to launch.
• Create UX flows, high-fidelity visuals, and prototypes while remaining hands-on in the design process.
• Conduct user discovery and design reviews both virtually and in person.
• Travel regularly between the Boston and Vienna offices (approximately one week every six weeks).

Requirements

• 8+ years of industry experience designing software user interfaces and workflows.
• Proven experience managing a team of designers.
• Expertise in designing web applications and design systems using Figma.
• Strong ability to execute complex interaction design and hands-on UX work.
• English: Fluent written and spoken communication required.
• Work Authorization: Must be based in Vienna or Boston; no immigration visa sponsorship available.
