Senior Software Engineer (HIL Battery & Propulsion Simulation & Integration)

TL;DR

Senior Software Engineer (HIL): Creating hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) environments to enable development, verification, and validation of embedded controllers for battery and propulsion systems with an accent on real-time simulation and hardware integration. Focus on designing Simulink/Simscape models, integrating HIL benches, and resolving software anomalies in the EV realm.

Location: Hybrid; Must report to Milford, Michigan 3-4 days per week

What you will do

• Translate customer needs into testable system requirements and solutions for HIL/SIL test environments.
• Create and maintain simulation models for plants, sensors, actuators, and serial data communication.
• Design and integrate HIL benches, including harness design, power distribution, and ECU integration.
• Coordinate test-environment strategy and hardware rollout to support new applications and features.
• Partner with users to investigate, root cause, and resolve issues encountered during test execution.
• Lead systems engineering activities, functional decomposition, and software anomaly resolution.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechatronics, Electrical, Software, or Computer Engineering.
• 4+ years of experience in the design of models with real-time simulation.
• 4+ years of experience in HIL design, troubleshooting, and integration.
• 2+ years of experience in automotive engineering.
• 1+ years of experience applying DFSS tools and methodologies.
• Must not require immigration sponsorship (e.g., H-1B, TN, STEM OPT) now or in the future.

Nice to have

• Experience developing real-time control algorithms using Python or C/C++.
• Proficiency with embedded tools such as gcc compiler, gdb debugger, Eclipse, and ETAS INCA.
• Experience with HIL bench tools including Lauterbach and CAN tools (CANalyzer or Vehicle Spy).
• Previous experience as a Controls, Software, or Calibration Engineer.
