TL;DR

Senior Implementation Engineer (Advanced Manufacturing): Lead execution and implementation support of advanced automation solutions across GM’s global manufacturing footprint with an accent on AMRs, cobots, and emerging technologies. Focus on standardizing launch practices, removing technical barriers, and ensuring plant readiness from proof-of-concept through full deployment.

Location: Onsite in Warren, Michigan. Travel required 50%+. No immigration sponsorship (H1-B, OPT, etc.). No relocation benefits.

What you will do

  • Provide technical support for implementing AMRs, cobots, and automation technologies in plants.
  • Develop and execute plant automation plans aligned with enterprise strategy and funding.
  • Define technical scope, costs, and timelines for automation initiatives.
  • Support proof-of-concept, installation, commissioning, trials, and ramp-up activities.
  • Monitor implementation health with dashboards and data-driven tracking.
  • Identify risks, escalate issues, and capture lessons learned for future deployments.
  • Communicate status and progress to stakeholders and coordinate with suppliers.

Requirements

  • 5+ years manufacturing experience, focused on manufacturing engineering in assembly or powertrain.
  • Experience with automation implementation including AMRs, cobots, or similar systems.
  • Strong technical communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work independently and deliver in fast-paced environments.

Nice to have

  • Strong manufacturing engineering process knowledge.
  • Automotive industry experience.
  • Experience with launches, suppliers, and automation strategies.
  • Cross-functional, global, high-pressure environment experience.
  • Master’s degree or higher in technical discipline.
