TL;DR

Thermal 1D VDDV Engineer: Execute 1D thermal system simulations for vehicle thermal sizing, development, and virtual validation with an accent on thermal physics, system behavior, and component interactions. Focus on improving model accuracy, efficiency, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and advancing VDDV tools and processes.

Location: Hybrid in Warren, Michigan – expected to report to location at least 3 times a week. GM does not provide immigration sponsorship (no H1-B, OPT, STEM OPT, etc.).

What you will do

• Execute 1D thermal system simulations to support vehicle thermal sizing, development, and virtual validation.
• Apply thermal physics knowledge to identify issues, recommend solutions, and influence design decisions.
• Develop, enhance, and apply VDDV tools, methods, and standards for all-virtual development.
• Collaborate with system teams, suppliers, propulsion, validation, and software teams.
• Propose process improvements, communicate results to peers and leadership, and provide guidance to junior engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering.
• 2+ years in powertrain cooling or A/C system analysis.
• 1D thermal system modeling experience.
• Strong understanding of thermal systems, components, performance integration, and model limitations.
• Proficiency with GT-Power, MATLAB, and related tools.
• DFSS Black Belt certification.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
