Senior Controller

TL;DR

Senior Controller (Real Estate): Oversight of accounting staff and financial operations for a commercial real estate investment firm with an accent on monthly close processes, staff supervision, and audit coordination. Focus on CAM reconciliations, policy maintenance, and administrative functions including Yardi and wire transfers.

Location: Los Angeles, CA. Must visit consultants in the Philippines twice a year.

Salary: $170K-$220K base

What you will do

• Oversight of Accounting staff, including direct supervision of AP Manager, AR Manager, and GL Manager.
• Manage monthly close process and financial statement preparation.
• Oversee annual CAM reconciliation process and approve final reconciliations.
• Coordinate training for Accounting staff and responses to internal/external audits.
• Maintain and revise Accounting policies and procedures.
• Perform Yardi administrative functions and initiate approved wire transfers.
• Assist with responses to third-party tax preparer, insurance broker, and property tax consultant.

Requirements

• CPA license
• At least 10 years of accounting experience
• At least 5 years of broad-based real estate accounting experience
• At least 5 years of active supervisory experience
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task in fast-paced environment
