What you will do

• Provide mechanical engineering support for manufacturing operations, including equipment sustainment and conveyance systems.
• Lead technical troubleshooting, problem resolution, and direction for production teams and Skilled Trades.
• Manage mechanical projects, new installations, refurbishments, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Oversee safety practices, contractor management, and performance standards like PS14 Noise Champion.
• Develop scopes of work, cost plans, and investment forecasts for conveyor and mechanical systems.
• Collaborate with headquarters engineering groups and support launch activities and planned maintenance.

Requirements

• 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Bachelor’s in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent skilled trades journeyman status.
• Ability to manage projects, provide technical support, and enforce safe work practices as top priority.
• High analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills; ability to work off-shifts or weekends.
• Proficiency in investigating equipment issues, developing business cases, and maintaining cost-effective operations.
• Must report onsite full-time to Lansing, Michigan; no GM immigration sponsorship (H1-B, OPT, etc.).

Nice to have

• Experience as conveyor engineer or in manufacturing/maintenance roles.
• Knowledge of process engineering, conveyor systems, plant layouts, and simulation.
• Previous skilled trades supervision and Safety Contractor Management (SCM).
• Familiarity with NX software and Workplace Safety Systems (WSS).
