What you will do

• Participate and collaborate with Acquisition Officers and Asset Management teams on all significant real estate transactions
• Draft and negotiate Purchase and Sale Agreements for traditional fee acquisitions, distressed debt, and bankruptcy transactions
• Draft and negotiate leases, letters of intent, subleases, amendments, assignments, temporary license agreements, and other leasing documents
• Provide legal assistance and direction on ongoing strategic acquisitions and leasing matters
• Work with In-House General Counsel to review legal services and liaise with outside counsel
• Maintain and distribute legal document templates for Asset Management and Property Management
• Develop policies and procedures for real estate legal documents

Requirements

• Law degree and admitted in good standing with a state bar, preferably California or alternative U.S. states
• Maintain bar license requirements with continuing legal education in real estate, construction, financing, business, and corporate law
• 5-7 years legal experience at a respected law firm in commercial real estate or in-house at a real estate company focused on acquisitions, leasing, and compliance
• Outstanding communication skills, including written, verbal, and interpersonal
• Comfortable in a fast-paced environment, handling ambiguity and multiple priorities
• Ability to collaborate cross-functionally, work independently, and maintain confidentiality
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, basic knowledge of Excel and Outlook

Nice to have

• Experience with Bankruptcy, Re-Structuring, DIP and Stalking Horse financing, and Sale Leaseback transactions
