TL;DR
Connected Vehicle Cybersecurity Manager (Automotive): Leading engineering team securing end-to-end connected vehicle ecosystems spanning ECUs, telecom, backend services, and mobile integrations with an accent on security architecture, compliance with ISO/SAE 21434 and UNECE regulations, and cryptographic strategies. Focus on defining threat modeling, overseeing secure boot and OTA implementations, governing program lifecycle security, and managing vulnerability response.
Location: Hybrid in Milford, Michigan or Warren, Michigan (expected to report to office at least 3 days/week). GM does not provide immigration sponsorship (H1-B, OPT, etc.). Eligible for relocation benefits.

What you will do
- Lead, mentor, and grow the Connected Vehicle Security engineering team, driving hiring, capability development, and security-by-design culture.
- Define security architecture for connected ECUs, vehicle-to-cloud communications, backend services, CLM, IAM, APIs, and OTA.
- Establish security requirements, own threat modeling (TARA), risk treatment, and cryptographic architecture (PKI, key provisioning).
- Oversee secure controls like secure boot, firmware signing, OS hardening, TLS/mTLS, token auth, secure APIs, and telecom integration (eSIM, 5G).
- Govern cybersecurity across programs: intake, reviews, pen testing, sign-offs, risk tracking, and CSMS audit readiness.
- Manage vulnerability response, incident coordination, patching strategy, and communicate risks to leadership with metrics.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Cybersecurity, or related.
- 8+ years in automotive/embedded/telecom/cloud security.
- Hands-on with connected ECUs (TCU, IVI), PKI/certificate management, secure protocols (TLS, IPsec, DoIP, CAN).
- Proven people leadership (team lead/engineering manager).
Nice to have
- ISO/SAE 21434 implementation experience.
- UNECE R155/R156 familiarity.
- HSM key storage, secure provisioning, OTA architecture, eSIM/carrier integration, cloud IAM/zero trust.
- TARA, pen testing, red-team in automotive; global OEM/Tier-1 experience.
