Design and Release Engineer - Seat Plastics: Own end-to-end design, development, validation, and production release of injection-molded plastic seat components with an accent on manufacturable B-side designs, supplier coordination, and launch support. Focus on leading DFMEA, DVP&R, issue resolution for fit/finish and integration with seat systems.

Location: Hybrid in Warren, Michigan (at least 3 days per week onsite at Warren Tech Center). No relocation assistance. No immigration sponsorship (H-1B, OPT, etc.).

What you will do

• Own design and release of seat plastic components like trims, shields, covers from concept to launch
• Translate studio surfaces into manufacturable 3D CAD designs with attachments, ribs, draft
• Create and release CAD models, drawings, BOMs in NX/Teamcenter PLM systems
• Lead DFMEA, validation, PPAP with Tier-1 suppliers and serve as technical interface
• Support builds, drive issue resolution for fit, squeak/rattle, dimensional concerns
• Manage engineering changes, VA/VE opportunities, and integration with seat structures/airbags

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
• 4–8+ years in automotive seating/interior plastic components
• Hands-on injection-molded plastic part design experience
• Proficiency in 3D CAD (NX, CATIA) and PLM systems
• Strong GD&T, dimensional stack-ups, tolerance management
• Tier-1 supplier experience on design, tooling, launch; problem-solving skills

• Seat-system experience (plastics, foam, structure, mechanisms)
• OEM/Tier-1 launch experience
• APQP, PPAP, DFMEA/PFMEA, automotive quality systems
• Craftsmanship, squeak & rattle, EV platforms
• Multi-program management in fast-paced environment
