Project Engineer II - DRE (Powertrain): Provide technical, program, and account management expertise to cross-functional business development and engineering teams for mobility solutions in combustion engines, transmissions, hybrids, fuel cells, batteries, and ADAS/AD. Focus on leading system engineering processes including architecture design, DFMEA, DVP&R, supplier negotiations, change management, and ensuring deliverables meet project timing, quality, and budget targets.

Location: Plymouth, MI, US (onsite). Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Employer will not sponsor a work visa.

What you will do

• Plan and formulate workflows for self and team to meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
• Lead specific project phases including technical studies, specification writing, and establishing technical plans.
• Develop and coordinate engineering activities such as analysis, mechanical development, procurement, and quality management.
• Coordinate project meetings, design reviews, sign-offs, reports, presentations, and customer interfaces.
• Own system engineering tasks: architecture, resolving design constraints, DFMEA/DVP&R, BOM input, supplier negotiations, change management.
• Drive release processes, ensure design/analysis deliverables align with project timing, and provide engineering leadership for proposals and teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related; Master’s preferred.
• 3-5+ years’ experience in powertrain design.
• Excellent knowledge of engine systems; CAD skills (Catia V5 advantageous).
• Lead system engineering: P-diagrams, boundary diagrams, DFMEA, DVP&R, supplier negotiations.
• Team leadership, communication, presentation skills; understanding of CAE tools, mechanical development, quality management.
• Ability to resolve conflicts, maintain interfaces, and work under tight deadlines with cost awareness.
