TL;DR

Director, Consumer Insights (CPG): Design and execute qualitative and quantitative research to uncover consumer behaviors, needs, and trends with an accent on market research methodologies, data synthesis, and strategic recommendations. Focus on translating insights into business strategies for product innovation, brand positioning, and cross-functional decision-making.

Remote (US or Canada), travel approximately 10%

What you will do

  • Design and execute consumer and brand research using surveys, focus groups, interviews, concept testing, and product sampling.
  • Analyze data from primary research, behavioral data, customer feedback, and syndicated sources like Nielsen, IRI, SPINS.
  • Partner with Marketing, Sales, Innovation, and Operations to integrate insights into product development and go-to-market strategies.
  • Create presentations and dashboards to communicate insights and track consumer sentiment and brand performance.
  • Manage research operations, budgets, timelines, vendors, and maintain a research repository.

Requirements

  • 10-12+ years in consumer insights, market research, analytics, or related roles
  • Experience in consumer packaged goods, retail, e-commerce, or consumer brands preferred
  • Proven track record translating research into business strategy, on vendor and brand sides
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Psychology, Economics, Statistics, or related
  • Master’s degree or advanced research training is a plus

Nice to have

  • Strong knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methodologies
  • Experience with tools like Qualtrics, Quantilope, Toluna, UserInterviews
  • Strong storytelling, presentation, project management, and collaboration skills
  • Deep curiosity about consumer behavior and strategic business acumen
