Sr API Engineer (Data Platform): Lead the design, development, and optimization of Data Platform APIs and data pipelines for healthcare and dental data needs with an accent on seamless integration, performance, and scalability. Focus on building scalable APIs, optimizing streaming pipelines with Kafka and Spark, and ensuring reliable data infrastructure supporting EHR formats like FHIR and HL7.

Location: Remote in the United States or hybrid in American Fork, UT office. Not hiring in Alaska, Delaware, Hawaii, Louisiana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Vermont, West Virginia, Washington DC, Puerto Rico, or other US Territories.

Salary: $115,000 - $150,000

What you will do

• Lead design, development, and maintenance of Data Platform APIs for efficient, scalable solutions.
• Monitor, optimize, and improve data pipelines for reliability, performance, and scalability.
• Collaborate with programming and product teams to enforce best practices across the development lifecycle.
• Oversee development tools, including maintenance, licensing, and team training.
• Mentor junior engineers on best practices in multiple programming languages.
• Create documentation, provide technical support, and present concepts to senior management.
• Participate in SDLC meetings for timely product delivery.

Requirements

• 6+ years of engineering experience focused on data engineering, data-streaming, and HS1 tech stack.
• Broad understanding of API concepts and best practices.
• Familiarity with healthcare data formats including X12, HL7, FHIR, and dental-specific models.
• Knowledge of database schema modeling and enterprise application design patterns.
• Ability to derive technical specs from product requirements and implement code.
• Excellent communication, analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field.
• Experience with API gateways such as Apigee.
